Villa Yasemin is situated within the lovely Telmessos villa complex, at the far end of Calis Beach, approximately a mile and a half from the centre of Calis. The villa is semi-detached and the complex is generally very quiet and peaceful, even in the height of summer. There are 2 swimming pools and a shop/bar at the villa complex. Please check when booking as to availability of these facilities as they are not open all the year round. The villa complex is situated right next to far end of Calis beach and amidst stunning natural scenery and a short walk away from natural wildlife habitats..(Rare birds, tortoises, frogs, etc) There are two further very secluded beaches about 10-15 minutes walk away. Along the seafront of Calis Beach, you will find innumerable restaurants catering for all tastes. Most will take payment in Pounds Sterling if you haven't got enough Turkish cash on you, or, of course, credit card which is accepted nearly everywhere. There is windsurfing about 400 yards away and also diving, including diving lessons, and boat trips in nearby Fethiye. Fethiye is a lovely seaside town with great shops and restaurants galore, also famous historic sites. It is not -yet-spoilt by tourism You can get to it by water-taxi from centre of Calis, or by taxi or minibus service. It has a wonderful market on Tuesdays, well worth a visit for its colourful local produce, as well as the famous imitation designer label clothes. Calis also has a very good weekly market-on Sundays- although the setting for it is less scenic than the one in Fethiye. The minibus service-called "dolmus"(pronounced "dollmush") -is a highly cheap and efficient public transport service which will literally take you everywhere you need to go in the area, whether its to Fethiye, to Olu Deniz, the world-famous beach/lagoon, or just to the local supermarket-''Migros" in Fethiye, for your supplies, barbecue food etc. In addition, there is a very good local taxi service, and if you stick with one company for your holiday, you can often negotiate your own competitive rates! You will be met on arrival by our English reps over there who will explain to you how everything works and where things are. They are available to assist you 24 hours a day and they will arrange car hire and excursions for you at competitive prices should you wish. For entertainment, the centre of Calis has lively bars and discos, although there is more variety of choice in nearby Fethiye and Hisaronu, which is a great favourite with English tourists. For a perfect summer’s day, why not round off a day of sunbathing and swimming at the local beach, with a trip by ferry to Fethiye (15 mins) as the sun sets, and try out the exquisite Turkish cuisine at one of many harbourside restaurants. You can change money in Fethiye, and in Calis, at various holes-in-the wall, or specialist Change Bureaux. Don't use the banks if you can help it as they take ages and charge a lot in commission. Likewise the airport should only be used to change a small amount of money as their rates are invariably worse than in Fethiye. Turkey is, of course, very hot in the summer. However Calis is blessed with a lovely sea breeze that makes it possible to stay out all day even, usually, in the peak of the summer. Food is cheap, by British standards, and you will find all tastes catered for, from excellent juicy inexpensive steaks to fine Chinese cuisine (try Hisaronu for this) to the local food with their appetising starters or "mezzes" and ,of course, the ubiquitous very cheap kebabs which make the perfect lunchtime snack. The local beer and fruit juices are fine but wine is not a particular Turkish strength yet, although they can be very cheap to buy in the supermarkets-bring your own from duty-free is my advice!! Ask our reps (Nick and Aysun) for any particular recommendations as they have all the local knowledge.
